Don't Be An Ass.

Ogatia is an RP forum, which means it is a game. When people play games, they join to have fun. But because people are people, miscommunication or other things can happen and players might not always get along with each other as well as they should. However, everyone here is required to treat each other OOC with respect.

OOC and IC Do Not Mix.

In other words: don't cause issues where there are none. When someone's character is a royal bitch IC, that does not reflect what the player thinks OOC. Something else to keep in mind is: your character will never know everything that you do, as their player. So, mixing in-character situations with out-of-character knowledge really just doesn't work under any circumstances.

When In Doubt, Ask.

If you're not sure of something, you're more than welcome to either post your question in the correct OOC section, or you can send me a message. There is really no such thing as a stupid question and they are all of equal importance. I will always answer when I'm online-- and if I'm not online, give me a little while (usually just a few hours) and I'll answer as soon as I can.

Original Characters Only

Ogatia is not a fandom RP, therefore fandom characters are not allowed here. This might disappoint some people, but it would not make sense for a character from any established setting to drop in here.

No Face Claims

Seriously, we are a basic RP forum. Face claims are one of the many things that have been deemed completely unnecessary, especially given that RP depends on the written word-- and using a pre-existing character as the basis for your character's appearance is neither needed, nor original.

One Account Per Player

Everyone is allowed to create one account. The reason behind this is very simple: it just makes things easier for everyone involved, if no one has to bounce back and forth between multiple accounts. You are welcome to keep a list of your characters in your signature, if you would like to do something of the sort, though that isn't a requirement at all.

There Are No Character Limits.

You are more than welcome to play as many characters as you can reasonably handle. There's no real reason to limit anyone to two or five characters, if they can manage upwards of ten. The only requirement is that you don't just use Ogatia as a character storage vault; you need to actually play everyone you make, at one point or another.

What About The "Bad" Stuff?

Oh, are you talking about things like "bad words?" Profanity is fine here, as long as no one starts shit or uses slurs OOC. IC though, if your character's got a foul mouth, have them say whatever they want to. Most other things, like violence, gore, fantasy drinking, gambling and whatnot, are okay, too. Your characters decide to do the dirty? As long as your characters are not children and OOC, neither party involved is a minor, slap an (M) in your thread title. And remember to keep things tasteful, you're not writing a porn.

Consent Is Key

One of the most important things here to remember is: always make sure the person (or people) you are RPing with are comfortable with how far you are willing to take things. While some people are perfectly comfortable OOC with just about anything that can be thrown their way, others could easily draw the line at certain things. If you think what you're planning might offend someone, the best thing to do is send them a message and ask them how far they're willing to take the thread. If they aren't comfortable with your ideas for whatever reason, don't push the issue. RP is meant to be fun for everyone involved.

Don't Kill Others' Characters Without Permission.

Character death can be both great and very dramatic. However, even if your character is an assassin or some kind of monster, you need to ask permission OOC ((Use double parenthesis at the top or bottom of your post to ask an OOC question there)) if you can kill their character off and you will have to wait for their response. If they decide they don't want you to kill their character, you'll just have to figure out a workaround that would be just as interesting and dramatic for all parties involved. Characters are players' creations, after all.

Don't Control Other Peoples' Characters.

Under no circumstances are you permitted to decide how another person's character will react to what you're writing. Sure, your character can throw a punch, but you can't decide whether or not the blow will land; that is up to the other player. Likewise, you cannot write what another person's character said, thought or did: that is up to the other person as well. It's just common sense.
